The Almont Downtown Development Authority welcomed the Great Lakes Family Dental Group to our business community with a ribbon cutting ceremony onFriday, October 16, 2009. 

GREAT LAKES FAMILY DENTAL GROUP purchased Almont Dental Centre from Dr. Kathleen Wells in June of 2008.  Recently a beautiful new “state of the art” building was constructed directly behind the former dental office.  After the near completion of the new home of Great Lakes Family Dental Group, the old building was torn down.  In the new office each operatory is equipped with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for your convenience whether you are having extensive dental treatment or a routine cleaning.  There is always a fresh pot of coffee brewing in the waiting room along with X-Box game stations, and a television, to insure that you and your family achieve an enjoyable and relaxing experience. 

GREAT LAKES FAMILY DENTAL GROUP offers a variety of Family and Cosmetic dental services including braces, implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, root canals, fillings, dentures, extractions (including wisdom teeth), in addition to the latest whitening techniques.  Dr. C. Patrick Gray, the owner, has been practicing dentistry for 30 years, and takes pride in offering his patients a comfortable, warm, and inviting atmosphere.  Dr. Natalie Gaida , also part of the dental team, was previously a part of Almont Dental Centre.   Dr. Islam Dehis joined the practice last year and will soon be offering IV sedation for those who do not feel comfortable with the traditional methods of anesthetic.

Office hours are:  Monday and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until 7: 00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and two Fridays per month.  They accept most dental insurance plans including:  Delta Dental Plan, MetLife, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and the programs offered through MIChild and Healthy Kids.

The Almont Downtown Development Authority welcomes Sherri’s Barber Shop to our business community.  The Almont DDA wishes to invite the entire community to a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9th.  Refreshments will be served.

Sherri Rodgers, store owner, has been practicing the art of barbering for 25 years.  A ten year barber shop owner in St. Clair Shores, Sherri  relocated to Lapeer County nine years ago and has been serving clients in Lapeer and Oakland Counties ever since.  Sherri was attracted to locating a permanent business in Almont for a variety of reasons.    Almont has been without a traditional barber shop for some time and she saw a need in the community for these services.  The opportunity to locate on Main Street in a beautifully restored storefront has given her shop the image reminiscent of the old time barber shops of years past.  Decorated in traditional men’s’ furnishings focused on a hunting and fishing motif, her shop offers men a comfortable place to take care of all their grooming needs in a relaxing atmosphere.  Her shop is conveniently located in the heart of downtown - offering her clients easy access to the Post Office, banks, bakery and gas stations.

Sherri’s Barber Shop is a full-service men’s barber shop specializing in flat tops, buzz cuts, regular cuts, beard trims and precisions shaves.  She offers hot lather shaves, a service not readily available in many other locations.
