Preservation efforts have begun! The Almont DDA is excited to be able to showcase the expertise of a business located in the Almont Research and Industrial Park and local DDA business. Grabill Windows and Doors is a nationally recognized leader in custom windows and doors and have experience in historic preservation projects. They are currently in the process of installing a set of reproduction front doors as well as restoring the attached working transom. The original 1850's glass has been maintained in the transom and upper portions of the front windows. The lower portion glass was not original to the building and needed to be replaced due to cracks and chipping. The front door improvements will improve the functionability of the building by providing increased ventilation as well as handicap accessibility. |
